My tattoo left shoulder, now just about 8 years old. I was 18 when I got it, and I am now 27.

I got this for a few reasons...
1. My middle name is Lynette, named after my mother's mother, Lynette. My grandmother's name was Lynette thus, I was named after her.
2. My grandmother passed away in 2008 just before my 18th birthday, she believed in reincarnation so as far as I am concerned she is a free spirit and watches over me, so the bird is symbolic of her freedom.
3. My grandmother's signature is below the bird, (swallow, dove) not really entirely sure, at the time I just wanted a bird but it is similar to a swallow in design.
I always loved my grandmother's signature, and she had the prettiest hand writing and she taught me the alphabet, and numbers growing up. I remember 5 specifically.
"the man went around the corner, and his hat blew off!"
4. The rose I added in the beak last minute because it was pretty and I didn't really think about it, I just felt like it belonged there. In retrospect, I would have added in her favorite flower instead.
I would like to add a Lilly of the valley in memory of my grandmother, as this was one of her favorite flowers.
